Make children's wishes come true

In our modern, high-pressure world, it’s easy to feel pressured, frantic and stressed. Unsurprisingly, this has a hugely negative impact on our mental health as well as our physical health. In fact, stress is now considered to be the ‘new smoking’; a major threat to our collective wellbeing. As a consequence of this frenetic existence, many people struggle with isolation and loneliness. This often affects us most when we least expect it – during the festive season where we should be rejoicing and having fun! Fortunately, there are many ways in which we can all help alleviate this negativity and give back to those who need it most: through the selfless act of volunteering. Whether you’re looking for an opportunity to give back or simply want to do something nice for others during this time of year, here are some great ways in which you can make a child’s wish come true! Make a wish to give children hope and make the dreams come true.

How to Help: Become a Wish Ambassador

As a wish ambassador, you will help us recruit new volunteers, donors and members to our cause. You can do this by spreading the word about the impact a wish experience has on children with critical illnesses. You can also help us spread the word about the different ways people can get involved by hosting a fundraising event or helping to recruit volunteers.

Wish sponsors provide the “lift” that helps wishes come true. You can support a child’s wish by making a donation to Make-A-Wish. You can choose to sponsor a wish for a specific child or for a general fund. When you sponsor a wish, the money goes towards helping the child’s family with expenses such as travel, lodging and childcare.

How to Help: Be a Volunteer

Volunteering with Make-A-Wish can be done virtually from your own home and on your own schedule. There are many ways to volunteer with Make-A-Wish. You can help us plan and execute fundraising events, assist with special events for wish families or become a mentor to a child who is waiting for their wish to come true. You can also help us recruit new volunteers by sharing your experience and knowledge with others.

The magical power of a child’s wish is something we can’t fully describe. It’s something you have to experience first-hand! When you see the joy and excitement in a child’s face when they realize their wish is coming true, you’ll understand. You’ll also understand why it’s so important to make a child’s wish come true.
